Emerging Adulthood

The transition to adulthood is a major life transition that requires learning new skills, engaging in decision making, navigating new and existing relationships’, preforming practical life skills, fostering independence and dealing with the consequences of our actions. It is a time of tremendous growth and can be uncomfortable and even overwhelming.

Change is hard for most of us. There are many emotions surrounding this transition. There are many potential logistical and practical challenges that may be encountered for the first time during this transition. Some of the expected challenges are: financial management/responsibility, how to be a working professional, navigating romantic relationships, daily life responsibilities (such as cooking, cleaning, laundry, etc.) and many, many more. This is not something that happens overnight, to fully “emerge” into adulthood can take years.
